We've taken Noah swimming since he was a few weeks old - we want
him to grow up being confident in the water.
We've always played lots of games with him, taking toys to the
pool. We splash and float around - for me it's a really
special bonding experience, you feel incredibly close to your
child.
Now at the age of three Noah can swim a short distance to the
side of the pool with his water wings. He'll climb out and
jump straight back it. It's very rewarding to see that level
of confidence in him.
My top tip would be that you need to show confidence yourself -
a child will spot uncertainty in your face in a second. Show
that you're having fun too when you splash them and take them to
the pool as often as you can. It's the one place you can't be
distracted by housework or the phone ringing! Bliss!
